The Republican Party has won the control of the House of Representatives, according to the Decision Desk HQ.

After calling the race in Arizona’s 6th congressional district in favour of Republican candidate Juan Ciscomani, the Decision Desk HQ on Monday projected that the Republicans have won the majority with 218 seats in 435-member House.

Other major organisations, such as the Associated Press, CNN, or Fox News, have not yet called the contest in the House in favour of either party.

With the control of the House, the Republican trifecta is complete . The trifecta refers to the situation where a single party controls the presidency and both the chambers of Congress — the House and the Senate.

A Republican trifecta would mean that Trump would essentially have unlimited power as the President of the United States.

While Congress as the Legislature branch of the government has historically served as a check on the extent of the Executive power, the hold of Trump over the Republican party is such that a Republican-controlled Congress is set to be a mere rubber stamp body.

As Trump had already packed the Supreme Court with his conservative judges in his first term, Trump essentially controls all three branches of the government — the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary.

All guardrails to check the presidential overreach are now gone and Trump is set to be the most powerful President of the Untied States in the history of the republic.
