As the race for the White House intensifies, former First Lady Melania Trump slammed the FBI’s 2022 raid of Mar-a-Lago over the classified document case against her husband, former US President Donald Trump. Recalling the incident, Melania shared a video on Saturday, cautioning that the “rights and freedoms of Americans have to be respected”.
The video promoted her forthcoming memoir and touched upon the Fourth Amendment of the American Constitution. It also features images of Trump’s Florida estate while she was heard slamming the federal agency. “I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America,” she said in the video.
“The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings. This is not just my story, it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected,” she added. The book titled “Melania” is scheduled to hit the stores on October 1.
Melania ‘felt violated’ during the raid
In the past, the former president has slammed the FBI’s raid at his Florida residence and called it “politically motivated”. However, it is pertinent to note that during the 2022 raid, FBI agents recovered over 100 classified documents and folders.

However, in July this year, District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case stating that special counsel Jack Smith, who was pursuing the case against Trump, was not lawfully appointed. Smith appealed the ruling soon after.
During the campaign rally for the upcoming 2024 US Presidential Election, Trump recalled that Melania felt “very violated” after the FBI executed the search of their home.
“She felt very violated. I mean, this is a terrible thing,” he said. “They go into her closet, they go through her dresses, and who knows what else, and it wasn’t left the way it — they found it.”
Trump alleged that the FBI agents carried out a “deep and ugly search” of his and Melania’s 16-year-old son Barron’s room during a 2022 rally, claiming they left “everything they touched in far different conditions than it was when they started.” He went on to slam the FBI agents for not taking off their shoes in his bedroom.
