Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance stirred a social media frenzy yet again after he shared a video which allegedly showed African migrants in Dayton, Ohio “eating cats”. However, many were quick to prevent the rumour mill from spinning after they dismissed the claims made by the Ohio senator and stated that the video is showing poultry being cooked on an outdoor grill.
“Kamala Harris and her media apparatchiks should be ashamed of themselves,” Vance posted Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Another ‘debunked’ story that turned out to have merit," he furthered. In recent days, Vance has claimed numerous times that the Haitian population living in Springfield Ohio, were stealing, killing, and consuming their neighbors’ pets.

In the Saturday post, Vance was resharing the provocative video which was originally posted by the right-wing Manhattan Institute’s Christopher Rufo. Amid the growing political debate over the issue, Rufo has placed a $5,000 bounty on anyone who could provide “proof” of cat-eating immigrants in Ohio.
In his post, Rufo wrote that the footage was filmed last year in Dayton. He mentioned that he spoke to the person who shot the video and the said person revealed that the cat-eaters were “some Africans that stay right next door to my kid’s mother".

The provocative remarks from Vance were followed by sharp criticism and many netizens jumped to debunk the theory. “I find it strange that a self-professed ‘hillbilly’ doesn’t know what whole chickens look like,” a user wrote on X. “HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT CHICKENS LOOK LIKE WITH THEIR LEGS ATTACHED YOU F****ING DIPSHIT," another exclaimed.
Clearly chicken you weirdo.

Dude’s never seen chicken that wasn’t dino-nugget shaped. https://t.co/6TwLNZy1Gu pic.twitter.com/kXHfAXKEVu
Oliver Alexander, an open-source intelligence analyst, shared an image of plucked chickens looking remarkably similar to what was grilled in the video. “Clearly chicken you weirdo. Dude’s never seen chicken that wasn’t dino-nugget shaped,” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Republican Senator Ted Cruz gleefully took part in the commotion by sharing a cat meme with a single line of text reading, “Please vote for Trump so Haitian immigrants don’t eat us.” In the past, Springfield officials have maintained they had no information to support Vance’s allegations. However, both Vance and former US President Donald Trump continue to hold their ground.
