 "'Will give you a child, guard your cats with my life': Elon Musk trolls Taylor Swift after Harris endorsement")
Following pop star Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, billionaire Elon Musk has taken a swiped at her.
In the 2024 US presidential election, Swift and Musk are on the opposite sides. While Swift has endorsed Democratic nominee Harris, Musk has endorsed Trump and is supporting him on his platform X (formerly Twitter) and elsewhere.
After Taylor said she would vote for Harris, Musk said in a post on X that he would give her a child and protect her cats.
This was a swipe at Swift’s endorsement note which she signed off with “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”. Swift’s mention of the phrase was in itself a swipe at Trump and his running JD Vance who have been lashing out at women who decide to not have children.

In her note on Instagram following the Harris-Trump debate on Tuesday evening, Swift wrote that she would vote for Harris in the upcoming election as she agrees with her values.
“I think she [Harris] is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate Tim Walz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” said Swift and signed off with "With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady".
In a 2021 interview with conservative broadcaster Tucker Carlson, Vance had said the United States was being run by “childless cat ladies” who led miserable lives and wanted to make everyone’s lives miserable as well. The comment has been seen as ain insult and Swift used it to mock Trump's far-right platform — and Musk has in turn insulted her again for this.
Vance said the United States was being run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs, and “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too”. He went to name Harris specifically in his tirade against women in particular and liberal in general who decide to not have biological children.
Vance said, “It’s just a basic fact —you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC— the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children and how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”
In recent years, the likes of Vance and ally Musk have been launching attacks on women who don’t have children. They have dubbed the declining birth rates as an existential crisis and have liberal women for it. In a later post on X, Vance used the term “weird cat ladies” as an insult.
