The 2024 US Presidential election is less than a fortnight away and the contenders for the top post – Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump – are calling out names and levelling charges against each other to gain an upper hand among voters who will seal their fate on November 5.
During a CNN town hall, US Vice President Harris called Trump a “fascist” who seeks “unchecked power” and desires a military person loyal to him as she addressed his reported praise for Adolf Hitler.
Harris also warned that her rival in the US Presidential race was “increasingly unstable”.
‘Trump wants military that is loyal to him’
At the town hall in Delaware County, Pennsylvania that featured undecided voters, Harris was asked if she thinks Trump is a fascist, to which she responded, “Yes, I do,” adding that those who know him best should be trusted on this subject.
Harris addressed reports that Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, recounted how the former president lamented the absence of generals who would swear loyalty to him, similar to the military commanders who served Hitler in Nazi Germany.
Kelly revealed that Trump had expressed admiration of Hitler’s generals, which Harris cited as evidence of Trump’s authoritarian tendencies.
“Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable, and in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to act as guardrails against his tendencies and actions. Those who once attempted to rein him in from pursuing his worst impulses would no longer be present,” Harris said.

More Shorts“Donald Trump wants unchecked power… one that will obey his orders, even when he tells them to break the law or abandon their oath to the Constitution,” she further stated.
Harris said that the remarks by Kelly indicated that Trump “does not want a military loyal to the United States Constitution.”
Harris further explained, “How he talks about the military servicemen and women, referring to them as suckers and losers, how he demeans people who have taken an oath to sacrifice their life for our country.”
What did John Kelly say?
Kelly, Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff, recently in conversation with the New York Times revealed the Republican’s praise for the Nazi dictator and his military in World War II.
The decorated Iraq veteran said Trump remarked that “Hitler did some good things too” and that instead of the US military, he “wanted generals like Adolf Hitler had.”
Kelly also repeated his warning that he believed Trump “certainly falls into the general definition of fascist” and “prefers the dictator approach to government.”
‘Trump seeks unchecked power’
Calling voters to make a right choice on the November 5 polls, Harris said: “We know what Donald Trump wants. He seeks unchecked power. The question in 13 days will be what the American people desire.”
Trump a danger to America’s wellbeing & security
Harris also cited other former Trump administration officials, including his national security advisor and vice president, who too have warned that he should not be returned to office.
“They have said explicitly he has contempt for the Constitution of the United States,” claimed Harris.
“They have said he should never again serve as president of the United States,” she said.
“I believe Donald Trump is a danger to the wellbeing and security of America,” Harris said.
