Ahead of the debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Trump campaign has dropped hints about the possible line of attack.
Harris will spar with Republican nominee Donald Trump in a presidential debate hosted by ABC News on Tuesday evening. This may be the only debate in the 2024 US presidential election as the two candidates have not agreed to any other debate so far.
The debate may set the tone for the final leg of the campaign — particularly as Harris has been somewhat elusive about her platform and has avoided interviews and press conferences. Trump, who has been mounting racial attacks on Harris for months, is expected to continue such attacks in the debate.
In a call with the media ahead of the debate, campaign spokesperson Jason Miller dropped hints that Trump may mount personal attacks on Harris in the debate instead of making a policy-driven case — as he has done with critics and opponents for years.
Miller indicated that for everything that has Trump’s far-right platform considers wrong during the past four years, Trump is expected to blame Harris.
Miller told the media that Harris “owns everything from this administration”, according to CNN.
Miller stressed that Harris was central to some of the most pressing issues in the four years of the Joe Biden’s presidency: the US-Mexico border and illegal immigration crisis, Harris casting tie-breaking votes in the Senate to pass stimulus bills, and the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Miller further said that for the past four years, it was not Biden but Harris who was actually running the country.
As Trump has done with opponents throughout, Trump is also set to belittle Harris as a politician. Miller told the media that Harris has no idea who she is and she is being fed all sorts of things by everyone.

No idea whatsoever and she’s trying to figure out what type of person she wants to be, because her positions are changing, though her values have stayed the same,” said Miller, as per CNN.
As for how Trump has prepared for the debate, Miller said that he has practiced all sorts of questioning in recent weeks: long interviews, short pull-aside interviews, press conferences, and town halls.
