The defense minister of Russia made a statement on Tuesday, but the Ukrainian military rejected it, claiming that Moscow’s forces had complete control of the village of Krynky, which is located in the southern Kherson district on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River.
Russian forces had not advanced on the eastern bank, according to a Telegram statement from the southern military region of Ukraine, and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s remarks were a “falsification of the facts”.
In late 2022, Russian troops withdrew from the Kherson region’s western bank of the Dnipro, although they continued to occupy parts of the eastern bank. Last November, numerous districts on the eastern bank were taken over by Ukrainian soldiers.
