After Ukraine to the war to a Russian town, President Vladimir Putin turned furious.
As Ukrainian and Russian forces fight in the Kursk province of Russia which borders Ukraine, Putin slammed the incursion as a “major provocation”.
Currently, as the Ukrainian and Russian militaries are fighting in the Kursk province of Russia, a Ukrainian commander in the region has claimed capturing a town. While Russia has confirmed the attack and has said civilians have been killed, it has not said anything about the capture of a town.
Putin has said that Ukraine launched “indiscriminate” attacks in the province, according to Reuters.
“The Kyiv regime has launched another major provocation,” said Putin, adding that the forces were conducting “indiscriminate shelling of civilian” targets.
The agency further quoted Alexei Smirnov, the Kursk governor, as saying that three civilians had been killed in the fighting.
Ukraine takes war inside Russia
A Ukrainian commander on the frontline in the Kursk region told the British paper i that the military have captured the town of Sudhza.
The idea of taking the war inside Russia is that the Russian forces will have to devote resources to protect their own border instead of continuing attacking Ukraine, said this commander who was not named in the report.
The commander further said that taking the war inside Russia is the only way to take the pressure on the Ukrainian forces in Donbas and Zaporizhzhia regions.

We know we can’t go toe-to-toe with them in the east using the tactics they use because they don’t care about their guys and for us our soldiers are our best resource. So for us this is the best way to draw their forces from the east and reinforce our border,” said the commander to i.
The commander further emphasised that the Ukrainian forces have no intention to occupying Russian land but they have to take the war to Russia as it makes operational sense to ease the pressure elsewhere in the eastern Ukraine.
“We haven’t done this before because clearly Ukraine isn’t interested in going into Russia. This isn’t a case where we want to take Russian territory at all. We don’t want to lose one guy taking Russia, we don’t want Russia. But with the situation as it is in the east this makes perfect operational sense. What else are we supposed to do? Just sit here and watch while we get pushed back and back … and lose more of Ukraine. Its not a good solution, we had to do something else,” said the commander.
