A Sikh woman in her twenties was raped by two men in Oldbury, UK, in what police are treating as a racially aggravated attack. The assailants also hurled racist abuse, telling her to “go back to your own country.”

The incident took place near Tame Road around 8:30 am last Tuesday. Police said the victim reported racist remarks during the assault, and forensic checks and CCTV scans are underway. The suspects have been described as white men — one with a shaved head wearing a dark sweatshirt, and the other in a grey top.

The attack has sparked outrage within the local Sikh community, with police vowing to step up patrols in the area. “The anger is fully understandable,” a senior officer said.

British MP Preet Kaur Gill condemned the crime, calling it an example of “overt racism” and insisting that the Sikh community has every right to feel safe. MP Jas Athwal described it as a “vile, racist, misogynist attack” linked to rising racial tensions in the country.

The assault comes weeks after two elderly Sikh men were brutally attacked by teenagers in Wolverhampton, adding to concerns over targeted hate crimes against the community.
