At least eight persons were stabbed in the British town on Southport.
The stabbing attack occurred on Monday morning at around 11:50 am, according to the Merseyside Police.
The police further said one suspect with a knife has been arrested.
“At around 11.50am, we were called to a property on Hart Street to reports of a stabbing. There are a number of reported casualties and more details will be confirmed when possible. Armed police have detained a male and seized a knife. He has been taken to a police station,” said the police in a statement, as per BBC News.
Ambulances that arrived at the sight of the stabbing took the injured to at least three hospitals in the area.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has expressed shock at the incident.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Starmer thanked the police and emergency services.
