The US move to raise tariffs on Chinese goods is a case of “typical bullying” and “shows that some people in the United States have reached the point of losing their minds,”
China’s foreign minister on Wednesday termed the US decision to raise tariffs on Chinese goods as a case of “typical bullying”, saying that it shows that some people in the United States have reached the point of losing their minds.
Minister Wang Yi said that the US’s suppression of China does not prove that the US is strong, but rather exposes that the U.S. has lost its self-confidence and is out of order.
This comes a day after President Joe Biden slapped major new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, advanced batteries, solar cells, steel, aluminum and medical equipment on Tuesday, taking potshots at Donald Trump along the way as he embraced a strategy that’s increasing friction between the world’s two largest economies.
President Joe Biden’s significant tariff increases on Chinese goods have drawn sharp criticism from Chinese media, which accuse the US of economic coercion and protectionism that contradict international trade rules. This escalation in trade tensions is poised to negatively impact both nations’ economies and strain global trade relations.
