Earlier this week, a photograph of the dead body of three-year old Aylan Kurdi became the symbol of an international crisis unfolding in Europe. This came days after the news of the bodies of 71 migrants being found in a truck in Austria shocked the international community. Aylan’s five-year old brother and mother Rehan also died after their boat capsized while trying to reach the Greek island of Kos. Artistic representations of the photographs depicted the precarious situation being faced by the migrants, mocked the international community and the United Nations and pays tribute to the little boy.
