Turkey detains 33 people suspected of espionage for Israel's Mossad

Turkish security forces have arrested 33 individuals on suspicion of espionage on behalf of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. This action comes a month after Ankara issued a warning against any plots to harm members of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on Turkish soil. The detained individuals are accused of planning attacks or abductions targeting foreign nationals residing in Turkey, as reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency. The specific targets have not been detailed. Thirteen additional suspects are still at large. The police conducted simultaneous raids in 57 locations across eight provinces as part of an investigation initiated by the counter-terrorism bureau of the Istanbul prosecutor’s office. Without citing sources, it said the suspects were believed to be aiming to identify, monitor, assault and kidnap foreign nationals living in Turkey as part of “international espionage” operations.
