Three-nation tour: After China, PM Narendra Modi leaves for Mongolia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday left Shanghai for Mongolia, on the second leg of his three-nation tour. It is the first visit by an Indian prime minister.

Shanghai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday left Shanghai for Mongolia, on the second leg of his three-nation tour. It is the first visit by an Indian prime minister. PTI[/caption] During his day-long visit in Mongolia on Sunday, Modi will present a sapling of the Bodhi tree to the chief abbot of the Gandan Monastery in Ulan Bator. He will meet Mongolian Prime Minister Chimed Saikhanbileg for talks after which several agreements are to be inked. He will address the Mongolian parliament, which will be opened on a holiday in a special gesture. Modi will also meet the speaker. He will meet President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj and will attend a banquet lunch in his honour. Modi will later lay the foundation stone for an IT centre and attend a mini Naadam festival - a national sporting festival and watch wrestling, archery and horse racing events in an open arena. He is also to address a community reception and banquet in Ulan Bator. From Mongolia, he travels to South Korea. Modi spent three days in China, visiting Xi’an, Beijing and Shanghai. He held talks with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang and both sides inked 24 agreements. He also met top Chinese CEOs and addressed the Tsingua University and Fudan University. IANS
