THIS Airline is charging thousands of dollars for rescheduling flights of foreigners stranded in Israel

Australians attempting to escape Israel amid war with Hamas claimed that Qantas Airlines have been charging thousands of dollars to change flights while Emirates is offering the same for free. According to a report, Asher Lilley, a tourist from Darwin, was in Israel on Saturday with her sister and parents while thousands of rockets fired by Hamas from the Gaza Strip sparked a major crisis in the area. The 28-year-old and her family barricaded themselves in a hotel and could hear missiles and fighting from their room, but they were later forced to abandon their haven because it was too risky to stay. They were surprised to learn that Qantas was charging others hundreds of dollars for the same privilege while they were allowed to rearrange their return flights with Emirates to depart Israel as early as possible, at no additional expense. According to Lilley, one person she knows was charged ‘a couple of thousand’ to reschedule their tickets. Another Australian woman, Bev, has friends stuck in Israel. She took to Facebook on Tuesday, saying: “Their flights keep being canceled and Qantas is currently wanting to charge them $10,000.” Lilley took to Instagram on Monday to slam Qantas: “Emirates are allowing people to change their flights for free to an earlier date and Qantas is charging people thousands to do the same” “I didn’t think they could get any lower, yet here they are. Charging Aussie citizens thousands to flee.” A Qantas representative responded to Daily Mail Australia’s inquiry regarding the accusations a short time later by stating that, subject to availability, “all customers can get a refund if they no longer wish to fly or we will waive the change fees if you want to move flights”. “We offered assistance for Australians in Israel and have spoken with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade about it.” “Some consumers have made reservations on Qantas.com for flights to and from Israel on one of our partner airlines”. “Clients who are trying to depart Tel Aviv but are experiencing flight issues can contact us to discuss alternatives.” Many like Lilly are also begging the Australian government to assist tourists in fleeing Israel. Lilly claimed to have gotten no information by the embassy or the government. “We were promised updates when we signed up 24 hours ago, but we have received none”. It’s been terrible, “Just a generic email telling us to keep an eye on flights as if we aren’t doing that.” When the war started, her family lived in northern Israel, but they were unaware of it and went outside to get something to eat. Thousands of Hamas rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards southern Israel as well as far as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as the attacks got underway at 6.30 am Israeli time on Saturday. Following the unexpected terror incident, Israel has been bombing Gaza from the air, killing over 900 Palestinians and imprisoning another 130. Authorities in Gaza reported that 687 people were killed and 2,900 were injured as a result of Israeli bombings that attacked a hospital, mosques, and a refugee camp.
