Cairo: Egyptian officials say a third blast has gone off in Cairo, this one targeting a police station near the famous Giza Pyramids. The explosion was caused by a home-made device and caused no casualties.
The officials say the device had been placed next to the Talbiya police station in the southwestern suburb. The station is about four kilometers (2 miles) from the pyramids.
It was the third attack Friday in the Egyptian capital. Earlier, a car bomb targeted the main police headquarters downtown, killing four people and wounding scores, and one person died in a blast targeting police vehicles near a Cairo metro station.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media.
