Testing Akbaruddin's patience: Five stupid questions journos asked about Modi-Obama meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first official meeting with US President Barack Obama was clearly much too exciting for the assembled media to handle. Their appetite for the inane whetted by the juicy fact that Obama had greeted the PM in Gujarati – ‘Kem Cho Mr Prime Minister?’ – the reporters kept asking for more, more, and more irrelevant detail. We present some of the best of the worst questions hurled at the bemused MEA spokesman Syed Akbaruddin by the Indian press corps at the White House. 1. What were they wearing?

Erm… the same things they were wearing when they posed for photos? Unless of course both PM Modi and President Obama were sporting super secret outfits under what they were already wearing (Think Peter Parker - Spiderman and Clark Kent - Superman). We like the “matching” outfit concept better though. The possibilities are endless - maybe they end up talking about war in combat gear and diplomacy in tailored suits. 2. Did the Prime Minister reply in Gujarati?

“No,” said Syed Akbaruddin barely able to restrain his impatience: “He said ‘Thank you Mr President’".  We have nothing to add. 3. What did Obama say when Modi gave him his gifts?

  This is surely as big a mystery as the locati0n of MH 370, but we’re going to venture a guess. Do you think he possibly said… Thanks? 4. Why was the first lady not present at the dinner?

Why would he know and what do they expect Syed Akbaruddin to say? Snoopgate? 5. Did they go for a walk on the lawn?
