The terror attack in Jerusalem strengthens Israel’s resolve to continue its war against Hamas, war cabinet minister Benny Gantz has said. On Thursday morning, two Palestinian attackers opened fire at a busy bus stop in Jerusalem, killing at least three people and wounding several others.
“This terror attack is further proof of our obligation to continue to fight with strength and determination against murderous terrorism, which threatens our citizens. In Jerusalem, Gaza, in Judea and Samaria, and everywhere,” Gantz writes on X, using the biblical name for the West Bank.

Talking to reporters, Jerusalem Police District Commander Doron Turgeman said that the attackers came from the eastern part of Jerusalem.
A large number of ambulances and police converged on the street that was crowded with morning commuters, and police said they were searching the area to make sure there were no other attackers.
Condemning the attack US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew said, “Abhorrent terrorist attack in Jerusalem this morning. We unequivocally condemn such brutal violence.”
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion has ordered increased surveillance in the capital city “to boost the sense of security among residents.”
The shooting comes as Israel and Hamas struck a last-minute agreement on Thursday to extend their six-day ceasefire in Gaza by one more day to allow negotiators to keep working on deals to swap hostages held in the coastal enclave for Palestinian prisoners.
