The domestic security service of Sweden charged on Thursday that Iran was utilizing well-established criminal networks in Sweden as a front to attack Jewish or Israeli interests in the nation.

Daniel Stenling, the chief of the SAPO agency’s counterespionage unit, made the claims during a press conference in response to a sequence of incidents that transpired earlier in the year.

The item was ultimately destroyed, and the embassy was not evacuated. Authorities withheld the nature of the discovery and did not make any arrests. Following gunfire on May 17 in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm, the area was blocked off. Nobody was taken into custody.

Stenling stated that the agency “can establish that criminal networks in Sweden are used as a proxy by Iran,” but he did not provide any details or proof to support his claim.
