Survey: Democrats see Marco Rubio and John Kasich as 2016 threats, not Trump

WASHINGTON: Establishment Democrats aren’t too concerned about facing the political outsiders who sit atop preference polls in the crowded race for the Republican nomination for president. [caption id=“attachment_2506800” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Hillary Clinton/ AP[/caption] They are far more worried about Republican candidates with experience in office. When asked, they most often cite Marco Rubio as the strongest potential competition for Hillary Rodham Clinton. She’s their overwhelming choice for the Democratic nomination. The Associated Press contacted all 712 people known as superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention next summer. Reporters asked which Republican they thought would be the Democratic Party’s strongest opponent in the general election. Few said billionaire Donald Trump or retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. Rubio got the most votes. The first-term senator from Florida was followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. AP
