According to authorities, the former leader of the People’s Party of Spain in the Catalan region was shot in the face on Thursday in Madrid. At roughly 1:30 p.m., Alejandro Vidas Quadras was shot in the affluent Salamanca neighbourhood of central Madrid and taken to the hospital. In Catalonia, Vidas Quadras, 78, led the center-right PP. A perimeter has been established by the police around the shooting site. According to police, no arrests have been made yet. (With agency inputs)
