Following the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) leaders’ meeting in China’s Tianjin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin travelled together in the same car for their bilateral meeting at the Ritz-Carlton, a 5-star hotel in the city.
The camaraderie between the two leaders was evident through warm handshakes, hugs and friendly gestures.
“After the proceedings at the SCO Summit venue, President Putin and I travelled together to the venue of our bilateral meeting. Conversations with him are always insightful,” PM Modi said in a post on X, as the two leaders travel in the same car to the venue of their bilateral meeting.
The leaders were seen travelling in Putin’s Aurus car, a gift from Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the meeting, PM Modi is expected to convey Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s message to President Putin.
The SCO summit, spanning two days, has brought together over 20 world leaders and representatives from 10 international organisations. Discussions have focused on security challenges, strengthening financial frameworks, and amplifying the collective voice of Global South nations.
