Japan has appointed its first female Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday. The cabinet line-up has been set up with all necessary measures in place. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) tries to build and shape a different framework of the Japanese government creating a generational balance.
Marking a historic breakthrough for the history of Japan which is overly dominated by males. Following her victory in the lower house vote, Takaichi has swiftly set in motion the formation of her cabinet, incorporating previous rivals to create a balanced and generationally inclusive team.
Key cabinet appointments include former LDP Secretary-General Toshimitsu Motegi as Foreign Minister. Agriculture Minister Shinjiro Koizumi taking on the defence portfolio. Yoshimasa Hayashi resumes his role as Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications. Takayuki Kobayashi, who previously viewed economic security, will lead the LDP’s policy research council.
Takaichi’s leadership signals the continuation of right learning policies amid challenges, life inflation and security concerns. Her appointment comes after Shigeru Ishiba’s resignation following setbacks and domestic dissatisfaction over inflationary pressures.
