Another bridge collapsed overnight in Russia’s Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, causing a freight train to derail , the regional governor said on Sunday (June 1).
The incident occurred just hours after a passenger train derailed in Bryansk , another region near the Ukraine border, in which at least seven people were killed and over 70 injured.
“Last night… in the Zheleznogorsk district, a bridge collapsed while a freight locomotive was passing. Part of the train fell onto the road beneath the bridge,” Alexander Khinshtein said on Telegram.
7 killed, many injured
At least seven people died and 30 others were injured when a passenger train derailed late Saturday in Russia’s Bryansk region, Reuters reported, quoting regional governor Alexander Bogomaz.
The derailed passenger train was travelling from Moscow to Klimov when it went off the tracks in the Vygonichsky district after a bridge collapsed .
Russian Railways said on Telegram that the train’s engine and some carriages derailed because part of the bridge fell, caused by illegal interference with the transport system.
This is a developing story.
