'Ready for war': Young army reservists return home to fight as Israel hits Hamas

On Tuesday, young Israeli reservists stood in queue at Paris’ principal airport to board flights back home while expressing outrage at the Hamas strikes and their will to fight. In houses, on streets, or at a desert dance party, most of the 900 fatalities from Saturday’s Hamas attacks, according to Israeli media, were civilians. After Israel announced on Monday that it had called up an unprecedented 300,000 reserve personnel, El Al (ELAL.TA) and Israir Airlines (ISRG.TA) have increased the number of flights to bring reservists home. “It was shocking. It was shocking because we weren’t expecting it at all,” 26-year-old Shimone said of Saturday’s attacks. One of his friends was missing, and many others had already joined the army. “Currently, they are all already fully equipped. They’ve already started the work, so we have to join them, that’s all.” (With agency inputs)
