Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make an official visit to Bangkok from April 3 to 4 for the 6th Bimstec Summit, which is set to be hosted by Thailand.
After his visit to Thailand, he will travel to Sri Lanka for a state visit from April 4 to 6.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Bangkok, Thailand, from 3 - 4 April 2025 to participate in the 6th Bimstec Summit to be held on 4 April 2025, hosted by Thailand, the current Bimstec Chair, and for an official visit. This will be the Prime Minister’s third visit to Thailand.”
This will be the first in-person BIMSTEC Leaders’ meeting since the 2018 summit in Kathmandu, Nepal. The 5th summit was held virtually in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in March 2022.
The theme for the 6th Bimstec Summit is “Bimstec – Prosperous, Resilient and Open.” Leaders will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and boost the organisation’s progress.
This is a developing story.
