Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Trinidad and Tobago late on Friday for the second leg of the five-nation visit. He flew down to the Caribbean nation from Ghana and is expected to hold meetings with the top leadership of Trinidad and Tobago to further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
PM Modi’s counterpart, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, came to the Piarco International Airport to receive him. She was accompanied by the entire Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago at the airport, where PM Modi was accorded the Guard of Honour. Interestingly, Persad-Bissessar wore Indian attire to welcome PM Modi.
“Landed in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. I thank Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, distinguished members of the Cabinet and MPs for the gesture of welcoming me at the airport. This visit will further cement bilateral ties between our nations. Looking forward to addressing a community programme in a few hours from now,” the Indian prime minister said on X.

In Port of Spain, the prime minister witnessed a Bhojpuri Chautaal performance. “The connect between Trinidad & Tobago and India, especially parts of eastern UP and Bihar is noteworthy,” he said.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar and discuss further strengthening of the bilateral relationship.
He is also expected to address a Joint Session of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. His visit will impart fresh impetus to the deep-rooted and historical ties between the two countries.
