Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India would soon open its new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, inviting US President Donald Trump to visit New Delhi. The remarks from PM Modi came while he was addressing a joint press conference with Trump. He said that these consulates would deepen the “people-to-people” ties between India and the United States.

We have invited the universities of the US to open offshore campuses in India,” the prime minister said at the joint presser. “President Trump, I thank you for your friendship and determination for India,” he furthered.

It is now operational. I had asked for suggestions from you for two more consulates. I am happy to announce that after reviewing your suggestions, India has decided to open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles,” the PM said at an event in New York, last year.
