Pakistan test fires surface-to-surface ballistic missile Shaheen-III, again

Islamabad: Pakistan’s military says it has test-fired a surface-to-surface ballistic missile — one that can carry a nuclear warhead and reach all corners of India, as well as the Middle East and other places. Friday’s testing comes just two days after Islamabad hosted a regional peace conference that called for the resumption of negotiations between the Kabul government and the Taliban. The statement also says the missile’s impact was in the Arabian Sea. Shaheen-III has a maximum range of 2,750 kilometers (1, 700 miles). Lt. Gen Mazhar Jamil, who attended the launch, said Pakistan desires peaceful co-existence of nations in the region. Pakistan became a declared nuclear power in 1998. AP
