Hindus in Pakistan continue to face atrocities with September witnessing 26 cases of religious persecution. Forty Hindus have fallen victim to abduction, forced conversion and marriage at gunpoint. Mahesh Vasu, a human rights activist for Hindus in Pakistan, in a mail to the Ministry of External Affairs, said, “All the incidents are reported by Regional TV News channel and/or based on materials & evidences, pls find due media links in my report for ref., many reported incidents go unnoticed and many incidents go unreported."

Among the 40 victims, eight were abducted, forcefully converted and married at gunpoint while 15 were enslaved & freed from private prison of Muslim landlords. In his letter, also addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Vasu listed the names of the victims and provided details of the accused involved in the crimes. Earlier this year, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) raised alarm over thirty Hindus including both women and children reportedly being taken hostage by organised criminal gangs in Pakistan’s Sindh. “HRCP is alarmed by reports of deteriorating law and order in the districts of Kashmore and Ghotki in Sindh, where some 30 members of the Hindu community - including women and children - have allegedly been held hostage by organised criminal gangs,” Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said in July.
