Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja has said that the “chances of a war with India” are real, adding that Islamabad will “do better than before” in case of an armed conflict with its neighbour.

During an interview with Sanaa TV, Asif was asked to comment on the recent remarks made by Indian military officials. The minister stated that Pakistan is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining a high level of alertness.

“I do not want escalation, but the risks are real, and I am not denying that. If it comes to war, God willing, we will achieve a better result than before,” Asif said.

The minister claimed that Pakistan has garnered more alliances in six months since Operation Sindoor, adding that India has lost more of its support than it had in May. He, however, did not name any of the countries he claimed had extended a helping hand to Pakistan.

‘India is not a united nation’

Asif asserted that India had never been a truly united nation, except for a brief period under the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He further claimed that Pakistan, founded in the name of Allah, remained united during the May confrontation, despite facing various internal challenges.

“At home, we argue and compete. In a fight with India, we come together,” he said.

His comments come just days after he issued similar threats in response to statements by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who warned Pakistan to end its support for state-sponsored terrorism if it wishes to remain on the world map.

Meanwhile, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh stated on Friday that at least a dozen Pakistani military aircraft, including U.S.-made F-16 jets, were either destroyed or damaged during Indian strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor.

Congressional leaders face pressure as a spending standoff threatens a government shutdown by October 1, 2025. Democrats and Republicans remain at odds over funding, with a White House meeting yielding little progress. Senate plans to vote on a House-passed funding bill on Tuesday to avert the shutdown.
