Airports in three major cities of Pakistan— Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad— will remain closed until 6 pm local time (1300 GMT), the country’s Civil Aviation Authority announced on Thursday (May 8).
The aviation authority stated that the closure is due to “operational reasons.”
This decision follows the Pakistani military’s claim that it shoting down as many as 12 Indian drones.
“Last night, India showed another act of aggression by sending drones to multiple locations,” Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR), Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said.
The military spokesman added that the “operation continues, and the army is neutralising them as we speak”.
