After billionaire Elon Musk’s continued criticism of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, US President Donald Trump has threatened to cut subsidies to his companies.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that Musk would “probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa” if his administration would cut subsidies to his various companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune. Perhaps we should have Doge take a good, hard, look at this? Big money to be saved!” said Trump.

For weeks, Musk has criticised Trump’s signature bill for its huge spending and trillions that it would add to the federal deficit.

Trump’s bill as amended by Senate Republicans would add around $3.3 trillion over the next decade, which is an increase of nearly $1 trillion from the version prepared by the House of Representatives, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

In posts on X, Musk has said that he would launch a new party in opposition to such spending and work towards ousting Republican leaders who have voted for such a bill.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” said Musk.

In a separate post, Musk said he would launch ‘America Party’ the day after the bill would pass in the Senate.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a voice,” said Musk.

After weeks of brewing differences, the feud between Trump and Musk came out in public last month when both fired off angry social media posts against each other. Musk went on to claim that Trump was an associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
