President Barack Obama was supposed to give a shout out to search giant Google at the National Democratic Convention, but ad libbed his speech at the last moment and paid tribute to Apple founder Steve Jobs instead, reports Mashable. [caption id=“attachment_447221” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  AP[/caption] According to the official transcript of the speech , Obama was to say, “We believe that a little girl who’s offered an escape from poverty by a great teacher or a grant for college could become the founder of the next Google, or the scientist who cures cancer, or the President of the United States – and it’s in our power to give her that chance.” But the President instead chose to say, " “We believe that a little girl who’s offered an escape from poverty by a great teacher or a grant for college could become the next Steve Jobs.” Interestingly, Jobs dropped out of college after six months and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes, including a course on calligraphy. ( Read more) There is no word on why Obama chose to change his speech at the last minute, and we’ll probably never know why, although he is publicly acknowledged to be quite the Apple-head. The President owns a iPad and a Macbook. Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney had also acknowledged Steve Jobs in his speech at the Republican convention.
