Not visiting Pak to broker deal for Musharraf: Saudi foreign minister

Islamabad: Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal categorically denied that he was visiting Pakistan to broker a deal for former president Pervez Musharraf. The Saudi minister visited Pakistan amid speculations that he may also discuss a possible exile deal for Musharraf who is facing high treason trial, Xinhua reported Tuesday. Saudi Arabia brokered an exile deal for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after Pervez Musharraf dismissed his government in 1999. A special court, hearing high treason case of Pervez Musharraf, Tuesday reserved verdict on his medical report during the hearing of the high treason trial. Musharraf was taken to a military hospital last week after he felt some heart problem while on his way to the court, his lawyers said. The court sought medical report from the Armed Forced Institute of Cardiology and officials of the institute presented a sealed report to the court Tuesday. The court said it would give verdict on the report Thursday. IANS
