US President Donald Trump probably did a month’s worth of work on his first day in the Oval Office right after his inauguration. Among the many sweeping executive orders he signed that will reshape the course of America’s future, the POTUS on Tuesday also announced that he will fire over 1,000 appointees from the administration of former President Joe Biden.
“Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump said on TruthSocial.
The step is likely to reignite concerns that the president aims to replace Biden appointees with individuals faithful to his agenda.
Who are the 4 employees who have been fired?
With his announcement came the termination of four employees – Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council.
What other measures has Trump taken?
The newly inducted president has workplace reforms planned as he takes office. Trump has ordered federal officials to return to the office five days a week and weakened job protections for civil servants on Monday, the first salvoes in his campaign to gut the federal bureaucracy.
His allies back this decision saying that the return-to-work mandate and the stripping of civil service protections will ensure that the president can replace long-serving government workers with loyalists.
