No really: The Onion's Twitter, FB account hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

American satire website, The Onion’s Twitter and Facebook account were hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army. Except people weren’t really sure if The Onion was indeed hacked, at least in the beginning. After all this, is a satire website that has convinced Iran’s FARS news agency that the American public would rather vote for Ahmadinejad than Obama. It also convinced the Chinese media that North Korea's Kim Jong-un had been voted as the world’s sexiest man. The Onion’s Twitter and Facebook account were hacked and had bizarre messages and tweets on them. The Onion Facebook account had the status update, Syrian Electronic Army was here, but the tweets were much more intriguing. For instance one of the tweets read, Poland to double flights from the Middle East, anticipating Israeli mass exodus. “The bagel bakery ovens are working over time”. Another one read, UN’s Ban Ki Moon condemns Syria for being struck by israel: “It was in the way of Jewish missiles” onion.com/104PKAs  [caption id=“attachment_758047” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Onion Twitter account hacked or not.[/caption] And here’s another sampler: The #Onion CEO: “We regret taking zionist money to defame Syria, now the hackers are up our ass” onion.com/JQiKzL The tweets also led to dead links and they appear to have been deleted for now, indicating that the hack was indeed real. The Onion then released its own satirical piece on the issue headlined, Syrian Electronic Army Has A Little Fun Before Inevitable Upcoming Deaths At Hands Of Rebels, followed by another piece titled, Onion Twitter Password Changed To OnionMan77 . Neither The Onion or Twitter confirmed the hack, but while the hacking took place, there was mass confusion was to whether it was a real hack or a just a big-complicated joke by The Onion.
