No clean chit to Khalistan extremists as Australian police junk claims of ‘Hindu hand’ in Brisbane temple attack

After media reports emerged alleging Hindus, instead of Khalistan extremists, of having orchestrated the vandalism of a temple in Brisbane March 4, the Queensland Police have clarified that they have not reached any such conclusion nor have they released any statement to this effect. In fact, the police said they had already filed the matter for lack of evidence and they would further investigate as and when new information flowed in. Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple in the Burbank suburb of Brisbane was defaced with graffiti allegedly by Khalistan extremists on March 4 this year. In the last eight months, five Hindu temples have been vandalised and defaced, yet no arrests have been made so far. Firstpost has seen the Queensland Police response which they furnished via email to ‘Australia Today’. “After exhausting several lines of enquiry, officers have filed this matter pending any further information,” the police said in the email. Queensland Police Response “The Queensland Police Service (QPS) commenced an investigation into reports of vandalism at a Daymar Street, Burbank, address alleged to have occurred between 9:00 pm Friday, March 3, and 9:00 am Saturday, March 4, 2023. The QPS treats all instances of threats against cultural and religious communities with the utmost seriousness. Everyone in Queensland has a right to feel safe and not feel threatened or victimised. The QPS urges anyone who feels threatened or fearful by the actions of others to contact police. The QPS remains committed to community safety and engaging with people from across our culturally diverse society to help foster better relationships, forge ahead with mutual partnerships and build upon platforms for community engagement. The QPS works closely with other state and federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies to understand, investigate, and respond to potential instances of extremism of any kind. After exhausting several lines of enquiry, officers have filed this matter pending any further information. Investigators appeal for anyone with information to come forward and anonymous reports can be made.”

Hindu Reaction “Reports suggesting that Khalistanis have been absolved from this attack are laughable. The basis for the reports appears to be a passing comment in Right to Information documents obtained by Khalistani sympathisers. Among much other information, one of the documents contain a ‘theory’ that the attack could have been carried out by persons other than Khalistanis,” Amendra Singh, president of Australian Hindu Media posted on X (formerly Twitter). “There not an iota of evidence to support this ‘theory’. The suggestion that Hindus would deface their own place of worship is baseless and absurd,” Singh added.
