Former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital after experiencing palpitations, reported news agency ANI.
Oli, a post-renal transplant patient with multiple health conditions including hydronephrosis, diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism, atrial fibrillation, and cholelithiasis, is currently under medical observation.

Oli’s arrest came a day after rapper-turned-politician Balen Shah took charge as the new PM of Nepal. He was arrested in connection with a case tied to the alleged suppression of the September Gen Z protests, authorities confirmed.

Oli’s arrest has led to widespread protests by supporters of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), particularly in Kathmandu, as they demand his immediate release. Clashes erupted between demonstrators and police, with officials reporting stone-pelting by protesters and baton charges by security forces to control the crowd. One person sustained injuries, and at least nine individuals were arrested during the unrest.
