After previously drawing criticism for anti-India posts on social media, Laura Loomer, a right-wing social media personality and adviser to President Donald Trump, has struck a markedly different tone following a recent visit, calling India “the best country” she has ever travelled to.
Honestly, as someone who has traveled a lot, India is the best country I have ever traveled to. It’s incredible. I will have been here for 9 days when I leave, and there is still so much to see and do. My experience has been amazing and India is portrayed negatively in the media… https://t.co/M5PcETapBt

In a series of posts reflecting on her nine-day trip, Loomer said her experience in India had been “amazing,” adding that negative portrayals of the country in sections of the media were “completely made up.”
“Honestly, as someone who has traveled a lot, India is the best country I have ever traveled to. It’s incredible. I will have been here for 9 days when I leave, and there is still so much to see and do. My experience has been amazing and India is portrayed negatively in the media as a place Amercians should avoid, but I realize a lot of that is completely made up,” Loomer posted on X.
Loomer also expressed optimism about India’s future, calling it “the next big super power” with “incredible potential”.

This country has incredible potential and you have to see it yourself to understand because the media only makes it out to be 3rd world,” she added, while describing Indians as “the nicest people I have ever met.”

View AllCalling Indian people the nicest people, Loomer said her “misconceptions have been corrected.” She added that she hopes to return annually and plans to visit southern parts of the country on her next trip.
“Indian people are the nicest people I have ever met. I am very grateful for my time in India. I have enjoyed it so much and I hope I can come back every year. Next time I want to visit South India. I have tried to do as much as possible these last 9 days but there is still so much to see and do. All good things come to an end. I’ll be back (hopefully soon). I love India. My misconceptions have been corrected. I have nothing but nice things to say,” she said.
Despite her glowing remarks, Loomer has a history of posting disparaging comments about India and its people.
During the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Loomer was confronted with a series of her past tweets critical of India. While some of these posts had been deleted before her visit, archived copies were presented to her.
When she was specifically pressed on anti-Indian statements from 2024, including tweets in which she claimed the White House would “smell like curry” if then-Vice President Kamala Harris became president and asserted that the US was built by “white Europeans, not third-world invaders from India", she apologised for her posts, saying, “I shouldn’t have said some of the things that I said … and I apologise if my remarks offended people.”
She, however, did maintain her criticism of the H-1B visa programme — which many Indian nationals have used to gain entry into the US — saying her views are intended to protect the American people.
“My job is to speak for Americans and to stand up for American interests, and our immigration laws have been exploited and abused, and our labour laws have also been exploited and abused,” she was quoted as saying.
Controversial views on Islam
While backing down on her previous anti-India tweets, Loomer reiterated her controversial statements about Islam. She told the conference she believes “Islam is a cancer on the world” and does not recognise Islamophobia as real.
Loomer further stated that “it should be illegal in the United States for Muslims to hold office,” citing concerns over US immigration and labour law exploitation.
She defended her past remarks regarding Harris, claiming they were “pro-Indian” and meant to critique the politician for allegedly downplaying her Indian heritage during the election.
Recent posts and ongoing controversy
Loomer continued to post provocative content on social media during her visit. On Saturday afternoon, she shared a video alleging that Muslims in India surrounded a Sikh restaurant and demanded they sell halal food.
She wrote: “Islam has no place in the West. Are you ok with this @sardesairajdeep? Should Muslims be allowed to terrorize Sikhs who refuse to sell halal food? Are you going to call the Sikhs Islamophobic and racist too?”
Her remarks align with a broader pattern among MAGA personalities who have criticizsed Islam, particularly amid escalating tensions related to the US-Israel strikes on Iran.
Loomer’s statements have coincided with a wave of violent incidents in the United States — in Texas, Virginia, and Michigan — which the FBI is investigating as potentially motivated by the conflict.
