In a joint interview with US President Donald Trump on Fox News, Doge chief and billionaire Elon Musk revealed details about endorsing the Republican candidate. He shared what led him to endorse Donald Trump.

The interview aired on Tuesday night when Fox News anchor Sean Hannity mentioned that Musk’s endorsement of Trump came after an assassination attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, during the presidential campaign.

He said that the assassination attempt on Trump accelerated his decision but wasn’t the sole reason behind his support.

Musk replied to the question by saying, “I was going to do it anyway.”

The Fox News anchor asked further, “That was it?”

“That was a precipitating event,” Musk said.

“That sped it up a little bit?” Trump asked Musk, referring to the assassination attempt.

Musk responded to Trump, saying, “It sped it up, but I was going to do it anyway.”

During the interview, they discussed their collaborative efforts to reduce federal spending and streamline government operations.

Musk’s ‘full support’

Musk declared his “full support” for former President Trump after gunshots were fired at his Pennsylvania rally in July. Many, including some Democrats, believe this played a key role in Trump’s campaign.

Assassination attempt on Trump

Trump was attacked by an assailant identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks. He fired eight rounds from an AR-15-style rifle, injuring Trump and several attendees. Secret Service agents neutralised him on the scene.

Following this event, Musk became an active participant in Trump’s campaign. He attended rallies and made significant financial contributions. He established a political action committee, America PAC, and donated approximately $75 million over three months to support Trump’s re-election.
