The state of Pakistan was once again humiliated in the United Nations, this time in just 4 seconds. The whole ordeal took place when the United Nations was discussing the recent Israeli strikes on Qatar, which the Jewish nation claimed were targeting the leadership of Hamas.

At the UNHRC meeting, Canadian human rights lawyer and UN Watch’s Executive Director, Hillel Neuer, was accusing Qatar of “harbouring terrorists”. It is important to note that the Gulf nation has hosted the political office of Hamas, a US-designated terror organisation, since 2012.

Today at the U.N. I asked Qatar: “If you don’t want targeted bombings on terrorists in your capital, why do you harbor terrorists in your capital? Why is your Al Jazeera serving as Hamas' non-stop propaganda arm? Why do you act as mediator by day, and a terror sponsor by night?” https://t.co/xi2EZlC5B7 pic.twitter.com/tTghv5JK4U

While sharing his assessment, Neuer also lashed out at the UN chief for condemning Israel. He reminded the gathering how the United States killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011, the then UN chief had said that “justice has been done”.

Pakistan left red-faced

After Neuer mentioned Bin Laden, a delegate from Pakistan interrupted him mid-speech and raised a point of order. The Pakistani delegation asked the UNHRC chairperson to ensure no speaker violated the principles of the UN Charter and the territorial integrity of sovereign member states.

“We reject casting unfounded accusations and allegations,” Pakistan said. The UNHRC chair noted the assertion was a “procedural point of order” and soon restored the mic to Neuer. The chair also reminded the UN Watch delegate that he has four seconds to complete his address.

Neuer used these 4 seconds to annihilate Pakistan, pointing to how Islamabad has a long history of aiding terrorists. “Mr President, Pakistan is another state sponsor of terror,” Neuer remarked as he ended his speech, leaving the Pakistani delegate embarrassed.

Your presence on the U.N. Human Rights Council is intolerable. https://t.co/rVhyS3qHVS

— UN Watch (@UNWatch) November 6, 2020

It is interesting to note that this is not the first time UN Watch, a human rights NGO based in Geneva, has called out Pakistan. In 2020, the body mocked Pakistan over its inclusion in the United Nations Human Rights Council. “Your presence on the UN Human Rights Council is intolerable,” UN Watch had tweeted.

The tweet was in response to a post on X, made by the government of Pakistan, that quoted the country’s then-Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Blasphemy in the garb of freedom of expression is intolerable,” the post said. This was Pakistan’s response to the beheading of a French teacher in Paris by an Islamic terrorist.

Neuroscientists at the University of Tübingen discovered that human brains encode color similarly, indicating less variation in color perception. Using fMRI, they mapped neural activity and trained machines to predict colors seen by individuals, suggesting a shared neural language for color.
