'Most cathartic piece of writing of my life': JK Rowling reveals her favourite Harry Potter chapter

It seems every time we check Twitter, we have a new reason to love JK Rowling. The author of the Harry Potter series is a regular on the social media site and often answers her fans’ queries about plotlines and favourite characters.

Recently, a Twitter user asked Rowling about her favourite chapter in the entire series. That’s a tough question even for fans, leave alone for the author of every word in the seven books. But Rowling replied pretty quickly with “Chapter 34 Deathly Hallows ‘The Forest Again’”.

In case it’s been a while since you read the seventh book for the nth time, here’s what happens in that chapter: Potter, having immersed himself in Severus Snape’s memories in the previous chapter, now finally understands what he must do.

He talks to the ghosts of Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and his parents, thanks to the resurrection stone, surrenders to Lord Voldemort and is ‘killed’ by the evil wizard.

No wonder then that her reply had another fan admitting that she “bawled” while reading the chapter. It wasn’t much different for Rowling either, the author admitted, tweeting, “So did I, but it was the culmination of 17 years' work and the most cathartic piece of writing of my life.” Wow.

Well, now we know what our favourite Harry Potter chapter is!
