Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to France on February 10 to co-chair the AI Action Summit alongside President Emmanuel Macron, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Friday.
Here’s how the prime minister’s itinerary looks:
PM Modi will arrive in Paris on the evening of February 10 (Monday) following which he will attend a dinner hosted by Macron at the Élysée Palace. The dinner will see the attendance of visiting heads of government and CEOs from the tech industry.
On February 11, PM Modi will co-chair the AI Summit with Macron. “This is the third such high-level summit that is being held in the very recent past. The first of these was in the UK in 2023, the second one in the Republic of Korea in 2024 and now this one in France,” Misri said.
After the summit, PM Modi and Macron will hold a bilateral meeting. The two leaders will also address the India-France CEOs forum.
On the evening of February 11, the Indian prime minister will travel to Marseilles. Macron will host another dinner for PM Modi on the same day.
The French president and PM Modi will pay tributes to Indian soldiers who fought in the First World War on February 12. After this, the two leaders will jointly inaugurate the new Consulate of India in Marseilles.
On the same day, Macron and Modi will pay a visit to Kadash which is the site of the international thermal nuclear experimental reactor.
What is the AI Summit?
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit is scheduled for February 10–11, 2025, at the Grand Palais in Paris. Hosted by France and co-chaired by India, the summit will convene leaders from nearly 100 countries, along with over a thousand representatives from the private sector and civil society, to discuss the future of AI.
Key themes include leveraging AI for public interest, understanding its impact on the future of work, fostering innovation and culture, building trust in AI systems, and shaping global AI governance.
