The White House, in a post on its official X handle, posted a controversial image of US President Donald Trump with the caption “Long live the King” as he completed one month in office. The White House faced backlash for the controversial post.
The message in the post reads: “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”
The post featured a mock-up of a Time magazine cover depicting President Trump wearing a crown.
This declaration followed Trump’s decision to halt New York City’s congestion pricing programme, a toll initiative designed to reduce traffic and fund mass transit.
Since taking office, this is not the first controversial post from the official White House handle.
The White House has also sparked controversy by releasing an ASMR-style video depicting the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
The 41-second clip, shared on the official White House social media accounts, shows immigrants in shackles being prepared for a deportation flight from Seattle. The video, titled “ASMR: Illegal Alien Deportation Flight,” has drawn criticism for its tone and content.
