Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour has accused New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani of receiving campaign funding from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) — an organisation currently under congressional scrutiny for alleged links to Hamas.
According to The New York Post, Sarsour claimed that she and the Hamas-linked nonprofit helped fuel Mamdani’s political rise, naming the CAIR-funded Unity and Justice Fund PAC as “the largest institutional donor to the pro-Zohran super PAC in New York.” Public records show the PAC contributed $120,000 to the campaign.
Sarsour, often criticised for her antisemitic remarks, also vowed to hold Mamdani “accountable” if he is elected mayor, saying she would ensure he doesn’t backtrack on his radical campaign promises.
“I just want you all to know I’m not going to work for the Zohran administration,” Sarsour said during an Instagram livestream on Saturday, viewed by Fox News. “Our friends on the inside need people on the outside to hold them accountable — to say, ‘We see you. We’re paying attention.’”
While Sarsour denied plans to join a Mamdani-led administration, she asserted that she would continue to pressure him from outside City Hall to stay true to his agenda.
