Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana heads to US with released hostages, families of those till in Hamas captivity

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana would be in the US in the first week of February on the invitation of Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson to drum up support for Israel’s war on Hamas. Mike Johnson is considered as one of the staunchest supporters of Israel in the US. Ohana has ensured he puts forth the right message from Israel since he has invited several Hamas hostages who have been released lately as well as their family members. Those invited to accompany Ohana include Emily Hand,9, who had been released from Hamas captivity, her father Thomas Hand; Zvika and Efrat Mor, parents of Eitan Mor who is still in captivity; Ali al-Ziadana, whose brothers Aisha and Bilaal were released, but brother Yosef and his brother-in-law Hamza still in Hamas clutches. The Israeli delegation would also comprise MKs from Opposition and the coalition. According to Jerusalem Post, the meeting between Amir Ohana and counterpart Mike Johnson is expected in Congress on February 6. Ohana would have a packed schedule since he intends to hold meetings with several senior members of Congress, Jewish organizations in the US and would also address the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the United Nations headquarters.
