External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held a telephonic conversation with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and the two leaders reaffirmed a joint commitment to zero tolerance towards terrorism and expressed firm opposition to nuclear blackmail.
Jaishankar also congratulated Meinl-Reisinger on her new role.
Taking to X, the EAM wrote, “Appreciated the conversation today with Austrian FM @BMeinl. Congratulated on her appointment. Agreed on zero tolerance of terrorism and firm opposition to nuclear blackmail."
The discussion also included an exchange of views on the ongoing Ukraine conflict and a review of the “excellent” bilateral ties between India and Austria.
India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was launched to avenge Pahalgam terror attack, has garnered strong international support for its counter-terrorism stance.
Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates have publicly backed India’s position.
