It's time #lovewins in India too: Twitter joins in on gay pride celebrations with pinch of cynicism

The hashtag #lovewins has never been used with so much pride as it was on 26 June, as the US Supreme Court ruled that all states must allow same-sex marriages to be legal. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that this momentous judgement comes at the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which perpetrated the beginning of the LGBT movement in the United States.

Back home, if you’re gay, you’re still a criminal under law. However, there’s no denying that this judgment deserves all the celebrations it deserves. The internet is overshadowed by way more celebratory tweets and memes than cynical ones. Here are some examples: Ian McKellen got proposed to and he could finally accept it!
