Ahead of the Israeli Cabinet’s meeting on Thursday, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said that the response to the Iranian missile attack will be deadly and accurate.
Last week, Iran attacked Israel with 180 ballistic missiles. Israel vowed to retaliate forcefully to the attack that was much more intense than another aerial attack that Iran mounted on Israel in April.
A day ahead of the crucial Cabinet meeting, Gallant on Wednesday said that while the Iranian attack was aggressive but inaccurate, the Israeli response will be pinpointed and deadly.
“The Iranian attack was aggressive but inaccurate. In contrast, our attack will be deadly, pinpoint accurate, and most importantly, surprising - they will not know what happened or how it happened. They will just see the results,” said Gallant, as per The Jerusalem Post.
Gallant further said that much of Israel aerial superiority in the Middle East was due to the intelligence operations of the country.
The intelligence apparatus’ efforts allow Israel to look into Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and any other necessary front “very precisely and in every place what we want to” for planning and carrying out any operations, said Gallant, according to the newspaper.
Gallant’s remarks came a day ahead of the Cabinet meeting.
The Israeli Cabinet will convene on Thursday to vote on the response to last week’s Iranian attack, said an Israeli official to CNN.

More ShortsThe news of Israeli Cabinet’s vote comes a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden held a call on Wednesday evening. Even as the United States has helped Israel in fending off Iranian attacks so far and is committed to the security of Israel, there is increasing frustration in Washington with Netanyahu over the lack of clarity and transparence regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Even though Israel has not confirmed so, the United States has said that it would prefer Israel to not attack Iran’s nuclear sites and oil facilities.
Separately, The Post has reported Israeli sources as saying that Israel is expected to strike various kinds of military and intelligence establishments of Iran and not nuclear facilities.
The newspaper reported that Israel would not attack the nuclear facilities as getting embroiled in a regional war is not what Israel wants.
The Israeli decision to not strike the nuclear facilities, in order to avoid getting into a regional war or a direct war with Iran, is shaped by the Israeli understanding that the last week’s missile attack was not intended by Iran to start a war but to rebalance its own deterrence, as per the newspaper.
